Introduction
An expert in nonprofit leadership and fundraising, Karen Perry has worked with more than 50 nonprofit organizations. As a consultant since 2011 and now as a trained leadership coach, she helps nonprofits and nonprofit people become their best.
A native of coastal Virginia, Karen grew up in the 1970s and 80s, attended public schools, was co-editor of her high school newspaper, and loved living close enough to the beach for day trips. Thinking she’d become a writer, Karen earned a degree in mass communication and English. Seven years of detours later (nursing school! seminary!) Karen discovered nonprofit fundraising and never looked back.
With adulthood came changes and challenges: a parent’s traumatic brain injury. Loss of that parent and four grandparents. Post-grad education and career-planning pivots. Premature birth. Parenting three children under the age of two. Starting a business. Moving cross country.
Through the years, Karen has relied on the support of family, friends, clergy, a therapist, and a coach. Today, she firmly believes two things: with every change comes opportunity. And we are never alone.
